Professor Pan Jianwei with University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was presented Willis E.Lamb Award at 48th Physics of Quantum Electronics conference held in Salt Lake City of State of Utah, USA, on Jan. 10.
The award was presented to Pan for his pioneering experimental research at the frontier of optical implementation of quantum information.
The other two winners are Professor Ernst Rasel with Hannover University and Professor Peter Zoller with University of Innsbruck .
The Willis E. Lamb Award for Laser Science and Quantum Optics is presented annually for outstanding contributions to the field. The award honors Willis E. Lamb, Jr., famous laser scientist and 1955 winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, who gave us many seminal insights and served as our guide in so many areas of physics and technology.
