Abstract

Silicon photonics has great potential in varieties of applications in optical communication, quantum photonics, bio-sensing, and so on, thanks to its distinct advantages of complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) compatible fabrication, high refractive index and high nonlinearity of silicon. Very large-scale silicon photonic-electronic hybrid integrated chip can be realized. I will introduce our advanced silicon photonics platform based on our state-of-the-art electron-beam lithography based nano-fabrication, which is able to precisely fabricate high-performance and large-scale silicon photonic integrated circuits. I will discuss in detail on their applications in quantum photonics technologies, such as quantum key distribution, quantum teleportation, multiphoton quantum entanglement, and quantum computing.

Brief CV:

Yunhong Ding received the B.S. degree (with first-class honors) from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic science and technology from the same university in 2011. He received the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award in 2011, and awarded the WANG Daheng Optics Prize in 2012. He joined the Department of Photonics Engineering (DTU Fotonik) as a postdoc in 2011, and has been PI or co-PI of H.C.Ørsteds grant, Independent Research Fund FTP grant, Danish Sapere Aude Research Talent, and EU QuantERA project. Since 2017 he has become a Senior researcher/associate professor, and was granted the Villum Young Investigator in 2019 investigating integrated quantum photonics. Dr. Ding is also the founder & CEO of the spin-out company SiPhotonIC ApS, Denmark, providing services of design and fabrication of advanced silicon photonic integrated circuits.
