Abstract

An ultracold Bose-Fermi mixture of 133Cs and 6Li is very favorable for the investigation of few- and many-body physics. The effects range from the Efimov effect to the realization of Bose and Fermi polarons.
Longrange anisotropic interactions can be investigated by creation of polar ground state LiCs molecules with a large electric dipole moment of 5.5 Debye.
In the talk I will discuss the experimental procedure for the production of ultracold Bose-Fermi mixtures of Cs and Li with a temperature of 100nK. Various cooling techniques, such as degenerate Raman sideband cooling of Cs and grey molasses cooling of Li are presented. The spatial separation of the two species due to the gravitational sag is overcome by applying species selective trapping potentials.
